He was born in 1973 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. In 1993, he was admitted to zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now China Academy of Fine Arts) calligraphy and seal cutting major of Chinese painting Department, and graduated with bachelor, master and doctor degree in calligraphy. He was trained by liu Jiang, Zhang Zu 'an, Wang Dongling, Zhu Sui Zhi and Chen Zhenlian. Since 2002, he has been teaching at the school. He is now the deputy director, associate professor and postgraduate tutor of calligraphy department of China Academy of Fine Arts, member of Chinese Calligrapher's Association, member of Xiling Printing Association, researcher of Dunhuang Society of Zhejiang Province, deputy director of Zhejiang Seal Cutting Creation Committee, director of Zhejiang Overseas Chinese Federation, visiting professor of Gifu Women's University in Japan.
