He was born in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi in 1965 and graduated from Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts in 1989. In the same year, he taught in the Department of Fine Arts of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute. In 1996, he taught in the Department of Industrial Design and Ceramics of China Academy of Fine Arts
